PROFILE HIGH SCHOOL guitar class
Guitar Teaching Philosophy:
Students will begin to develop their musical ability through performances, rehearsals, lessons, extracurricular activities, and daily practice. Students should be practicing a minimum of 20 minutes a day. All rehearsals and lessons happen during the school day. Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory. Students should be educated through multiple styles of learning so that they have every opportunity to achieve success. Students should enjoy music making.
By the end of the class members should:
The course offers students the opportunity to continue development in the following areas:
Leadership
Music Literacy
Communication
Critical Listening
Auditory Perception
Expression
Self Discipline
Ensemble Playing

- Be able to play 3 Major Scales (E, A, and G) consistently with the arpeggios
- Be able to play a 3 octave chromatic scale
- Be able to count simple rhythms in various time signatures (4/4, 2/4, 6/8, etc.)
- Be able to play expressively and interpret the music
- Have a basic knowledge of music theory
- Have performed or rehearsed a variety of music literature.
